To keep attendance at the Academy within the reach of a broad demographic, tuition alone cannot cover the full cost of educating each student. A combination of tuition and donor support is required to provide the high quality education that an independent private school offers: small class sizes, highly qualified teachers and strong academic programs enhanced by personal attention in a Christian environment.

Donor support is necessary to help sustain and expand our programs. Contributions support our scholarship program, Annual Fund, special programs, and help the Academy to maintain its high academic standards.

Annual Fund Campaign

Designed to kick off each spring, the Annual Fund Campaign raises unrestricted money to support the operating budget, which includes instructional materials, programming, equipment and technology, as well as faculty salaries, faculty development and facility maintenance. The AFC is the primary means to make up the difference between what is paid in tuition and the real cost of educating each student.

Major Gifts

Major gift contributions support specific projects, equipment or programs.

Scholarship Program

Tuition assistance for deserving students is a need at the Academy. Presently, 24% of our student body receives some form of financial assistance. A portion of the Academy’s budget combined with the Annual Fund fills these financial needs. Charitable contributions toward this fund are greatly needed and greatly appreciated. However, contributions cannot be designated for specific students.

Students at the Academy are tested yearly using the Stanford Achievement Test, a nationally recognized measure of student accomplishment. The average student at the Academy scores significantly above the national norm. Many of our graduates are accepted into and attend some of the best private high schools in the country. We provide instruction at a level on a par with private institutions charging much more than the Academy.

Preschool and K4 Curriculum

The Academy preschool program is divided in two groups, the Preschool (3 years) and K4 (pre-kindergarten) programs.

The preschoolers learn to identify and comprehend numbers: they learn that numbers are part of our everyday life. Math skills are explored through different activities like shape and color recognition, sequencing, counting, measuring, and sorting, art projects, games, songs, and work sheets. Language skills learned include the compilation of letters into words and by the end of the school year, the recognition of all the alphabet letters. Fine motor skills are developed by tracing letters and numbers.

In the K4 class, children will learn to count to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s. They will be able to write numbers 1 to 25. They will learn positional and opposite words and explore measuring, sorting, and sequencing in more detail. Language skills learned include the phonetic sounds of each letter, “sight” words and proper letter formation in preparation for writing.

Both programs include science and gym. Children will learn that they are unique in their own way and that God made them very special. They will also gain a strong understanding of themselves and the environment around them.

Kindergarten through 7th Curriculum

The Academy uses the BJU Press curriculum for Kindergarten–1st Grade because it enhances the Academy’s excellent academic program. BJU Press has an outstanding track record of students testing well above grade level. Please visit the BJU website, www.bjupress.com, for additional information regarding the curriculum. A phonics-based and literature-rich reading program is introduced in Kindergarten, with total immersion in 1st Grade. The BJU math program prepares students well for the 2nd grade Saxon Math program, covering time, money, numeration to the hundreds’ place, and much more.

The joy of reading is emphasized in the upper grades with self-directed reading assignments completed daily at home. Literature is comprehensively discussed and shared in class. Students write creatively as well as formally, developing the process and revision strategies essential to various forms of writing. Language Arts also includes grammatical studies from BJU and Prentice Hall. The Academy at Foxborough uses Saxon Math, which is manipulative-rich to concrete-pictorial in the second grade, and pre-Algrebraic by 7th Grade. It is a favorite in public and private schools, with proven results on standardized tests. Saxon is best known for its unique incremental approach which blends practice exercises from previous lessons into practice exercises for each new lesson. More about Saxon Math can be found at their website, http://saxonpublishers.hmhco.com/en/sxnm_home.htm. History, Social Studies, and Science is taught on a two-year cycle, and combines BJU, Scott Foresman, and Prentice Hall curricula to give the students a unique perspective infused with a Christian world view.

In Art, students as young as Kindergarten learn about the color wheel and perspective, completing multi-step projects. In 1st through 7th Grade, students play the recorder, learning simple music notation. They participate in musical performances, and play a variety of rhythm instruments, play music games, and learn patriotic songs. Basic Microsoft® Word, Excel, and PowerPoint® skills are taught in computer class, as well as internet safety. The Academy at Foxborough offers students a choice of foreign language through online Rosetta Stone courses.

Bible is enhanced with dramatic and musical renditions of stories and passages, with weekly opportunities to present in Chapel. Abeka is the main curriculum used in the upper grades for Bible. More information can be found at the website, http://www.abeka.com/ . Skills of various sports are developed in Physical Education Class where children also learn sportsmanship and team building.

The Bible and its precepts undergird the whole of our program. Students learn that God loves them unconditionally and that they are special to Him, that God loves the whole world and cares about His creation, that the Bible teaches us how to treat one another, how to be respectful, kind and obedient. Our Bible program will help build a spiritual foundation to last a lifetime.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to serve families by providing academic excellence in an environment where all children are loved and accepted and taught about the love of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision Statement

The vision of the Academy at Foxborough is to equip young boys and girls to use their gifts and abilities to become experienced and effective servant leaders who will represent Jesus Christ faithfully in the world.

Our Statement Of Faith

We Believe…

…the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

…there is One God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30)

…in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 7:26), His miracles (John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4), His ascension to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19), and His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).

…in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that we are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone we are saved. (John 3:1-6-19; John 5:24; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5)

…in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost – the saved to the resurrection of life, and the lost to the resurrection of condemnation. (John 5:28-29)

…in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is able to live a godly life. (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18)

*This Statement of Faith describes the beliefs of all faculty, staff, and trustees. Our students and their families are not required to be in agreement with this statement, although all students are required to attend chapel and participate in other religious activities.

The Academy at Foxborough is an independent, nonprofit Christian school located in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Our goal is to meet the educational needs of the whole student: mental, physical, social, and spiritual. For the past 16 years we have been developing the academic and athletic abilities as well as the character of each of our students. By stressing strong academics and values the Academy is preparing its students to become the leaders of tomorrow.

History of the Academy

In 1995 Living Waters Christian Academy was founded as a preschool to provide an environment where children would be lovingly cared for and taught about the love of Jesus Christ. Gradually Living Waters Christian Academy added elementary school grades and then middle school classes.

In 2008 Living Waters Christian Academy relocated from Norwood to Foxborough, Massachusetts and was renamed the Academy at Foxborough. The Academy currently provides classes from preschool (age 3 years) through 7th grade, serving approximately 70 students. In 2012 we will add an 8th grade class.

The Academy Today

The Academy provides a high quality, culturally sensitive education to an ethnically and socio-economically diverse student body. The rigorous academic program of the Academy is taught from a Christian perspective. Admission is open to all, regardless of religious beliefs or background. We at the Academy believe that a loving Christian environment is the best environment to nurture the mind, the heart and the soul of each of our students.

The Academy serves students and their parents from the greater Boston area. We provide bus transportation to and from various geographic areas.
